BMC stands to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ( bmc full form ). It is located at. It is also known as Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, (MCGM). It was previously known as Municipal Corporation of Greater Bombay, (MCGB) from 1966 to 1966. BMC is India's richest municipal corporation, as its annual budget exceeds that of smaller Indian states.

It was established under the Bombay Municipal Act1888. It is located in Mumbai. It is responsible for the administration of Mumbai's civic infrastructure, outer Mumbai territory and other areas. Trushna Vishwasrao was the first female Corporator of this Corporation. She assumed office in 2015. Elections are used to select the corporators. They are empowered to enforce civic infrastructure and duties and act as mediators between the BMC, the people and the city.

Corporators have the authority to assess the functions of the corporation, and to manage finance and budget matters such as tax determination, approval contracts, distribution funds, and so on.

BMC isheaded Indian Administration Officer (IAS).Who is the Municipal Commissioner? The Corporation Council is the name of the legislature at BMC. 2017 saw the debut of more than 30 contestants in a single ward.

  • Construction and maintenance for streets, roads, subways, flyovers, and subways
  • Lighting streets, roads, and subways
  • To prevent epidemics by working aggressively
  • Register births and deaths, and hold the power to dispose of all graveyards and cremations within its jurisdiction.
  • In order to maintain sanitation and health throughout the city, we manage garbage collection and disposal.
  • Maintain records of urban properties and enforce building standards if necessary
  • To maintain and create parks and public spaces, and to ensure safety at the coast by providing lifeguards or other facilities on beaches.
